This is the Birthday cake I made for Justin, he said he wanted me to experiment. He wanted a vanilla cake with a filling. Well it was definitely a learning experience. For starters, frosting does not taste good with an ice cream filling. I had thought about this before, but could not come up with an alternative, so frosting it was. Then I learned that even though is says to only crisco the pans, flour is a must!!! My cake stuck to the pan when I first flipped it because I did not use flour. Even though my cake stuck to the pan my filling did not and it came out of the cake. Because the filling was ice cream it would have been in one chunk if it were frozen. Apparently an ice cream cake dose not freeze in several hours, rather you must wait over night!!!! Thus the melted mint chip ice cream went everywhere. :) I am sure you can just envision all of this happening. Oh yes and my struggles did not end there, while I was attempting to frost the cake, the frosting would not stick to the cake. I am not sure if this is because the cake stuck to the pan or because it was frozen. But this is how it turned out, not my most impressive looking cake, but when considering everything it was the best I could do.

Yes I was able to fix the filling, and if you look closely you can see the ice cream!!!!

Justin liked the cake, but I am not sure he knew all of the things that had happened prior to it getting the candles on top.
